Good to know
- Fixing holes are 60.3 mm apart (120.6 mm on a double plate), the standard for MS 589 and BS 1363 wall boxes.
- Countersunk holes suit the M3.5 box screws. Countersinking needs sheet at least 2 mm thick; at 3 mm or more the head sits flush with no check.
- Openings stay centred and keep at least 4 mm of metal clear of the screw heads.
- A metal plate must be earthed: fit it to an earthed metal box or connect an earth lead.
- Measure your box: older or imported boxes may not use 60.3 mm centres.
